Event Recap: Shrimping Event
Last Saturday we hosted our third shrimping event in Taiwan. Shrimp fishing is a very Taiwanese thing to do, so we thought we would treat all of our teachers to a taste of the traditional here in Taiwan.
Once everybody found the correct shrimping venue (I myself had a good 10 minute walk down the mountain to the correct venue), we got stuck right in and partnered up, got our poles, bait, and most importantly, beers.
Shrimping basically involves sitting around a pool of shrimp and seeing how many you can catch, there are a number of techniques to use, some fish near the wall, some near the bubble vents, my personal favorite is pure luck.
We like to spice things up a little and have everyone throw in $100NTD to a pot, the team with the most shrimp at the end gets the whole pot, in this case there was $2200 at stake, that’s some serious beer money. Everyone was wearing a smile, but I could smell the competition in the air.
It was game on!
